Textile based sensors and textile based power generation methods are the elements behind Ohio State University junior Raman Vilkhu's Elbow Flexion joint monitoring sleeve.  The wireless sleeve project won Electrical and Computer engineering student, Raman Vilkhu, the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT-S) Scholarship award.  The MTT-S promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications including RF, microwave, millimeter wave and terahertz technologies.

The Elbow Flexion is a flexible sleeve, not a brace, that uses sewn in sensors and power sources to wirelessly transmit tracking data to a doctor to monitor the healing process and reduce recover time for elbow injuries.
